About Sifu Quan
sifu quan Tylus "Quan" Do was born in Saigon in1975 at the end of the Vietnam War. Even though martial arts movies were forbidden in Vietnam, Quan was inspired to learn martial arts after hearing the movie stories of Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan in the early 1980’s. "My parents never permitted me to start martial arts when I was young as they were afraid it would stunt my growth". Finally in 1989, he started individual sports, wrestling, weight-lifting and fitness shortly after moving to the United States. Choi Kwon Do (a Korean-American martial art specialized in rapid bent-joints attacks and defenses) was the first martial art Quan attempted, but it quickly became an expensive commercialized ordeal.

In March of 2000, "Bert Hill, a Wing Chun Gung Fu instructor, after 3 years of searching for a dedicated student and training partner found me in a gym practicing kickboxing on a heavy bag, and from that point on my martial arts journey begins…". After 6 intensive months of one-on-one training, Bert introduced Quan to his instructor, Sifu Wayne Jackson (CRCA Wing Chun, Head Instructor of Maryland, USA). Sifu Wayne being a 30 years veteran in Mixed Martial Arts introduced and expanded Quan’s training in Jeet Kune Do - Muay Thai - Western Boxing – Savate - Kali – Escrima in addition to the mother art of Wing Chun Gung Fu. Throughout the years Quan frequently visit and learns directly at the home of Sifu Randy Williams, Founder of Close Range Combat Academy, where he became a personal friend and dedicated student of Sifu Williams. He is now the CRCA Instructor Representative for Spain and CRCA Webmaster (www.crcawingchun.com).

sifu quan Quan became a personal friend and dedicated student of Sifu Randy Williams under the CRCA Wing Chun system. He is now the Instructor Representative directly under Sifu Randy Williams, the founder of Close Range Combat Academy.

In June 2001, Ron Hebb, Director of Fitness for the United States Marine Corp in Virginia, a senior classmate and close friend hosted a spectacular seminar instructed by Guru Cass Magda in Arlington, Virginia U.S.A. Shortly after, Ronnie and Quan went to Magda Institute in Reseda, California based upon an invitation by Guro Cass Magda, founder of Magda Institute, to try out the classes and they both fell in love head-over-heel with all these combat arts J (www.magdainstitute.com ). Over the last 7 years Quan extensively practices and teaches the CRCA Wing Chun and actively pursues the Magda Institute curriculum (Buka Jalan Silat-Jeet Kune Do-FMA-Muay Thai) while integrating his own unique approach of Wing Chun and Buka Jalan Silat theories and principles.
